From 1st JULY 2007 new currency has been issued, running in parallel for at least six months with the existing notes and coinage. After 1st July, for example, 100,000 old cedis will become 10 new Ghanaian cedis. This means that the cedi will then be approximately the same value as the US dollar, with about 1.5 cedis to the euro, and 2 cedis to the GB pound sterling.
